While talking to Indian Express, a CSK official made it clear:
We are retaining Dhoni and Raina, and the third we are contemplating.
Earlier, George John, the franchise director had also given a statement on MS Dhoni by saying
That’s an obvious one. We will have him back as captain. We don’t know by when we have to submit the retained player list. Once the deadline is set, we will finalize the list. For Dhoni, it would be like returning home, 100 percent. That’s what he also said during the TNPL
So after a gap of two years, MS Dhoni will be back at Chennai – a place where he belongs. The other choice Suresh Raina is currently out of Indian team but with no doubt, Raina is an IPL legend. With a massive experience of 161 matches, Raina has scored 4,540 runs at an excellent hitting rate of 139.09. He has proved himself again and again in important situations for Chennai Super Kings.
MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina have been part of CSK since the inaugural season. Their partnership at CSK was broken due to suspension term faced by Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. During the two years ban, MS Dhoni moved to Rising Pune Supergiants while Suresh Raina led Gujarat Lions.
