As we said earlier, New Year sets in and cricket fans wait eagerly for the IPL Auction details announcement. According to previous years, IPL Auctions are usually held in the month of February. But this time around, authorities have decided to pre-pone the dates of IPL Auction 2018 by a week. The IPL 2018 Auctions will be held in last week of January 2018. As per the official word, IPL Auction 2018 will be held on 27th & 28th January 2018.

Earlier, the venue proposed was Goa but due to New Year rush in the city, authorities decided to host IPL 2018 Auction in Bengaluru.

VIVO IPL Auction 2018 Rules & Regulations

Here we are sharing the rules which are applicable to IPL Auction 2018:

  1. Salary Cap per Team: The purse of every franchise has increased from 66 crores to 80 crores which will enable the franchises to extend their bids for some players.
  2. Squad Size: The squad size has been trimmed from maximum 27 to 25 players per side. The minimum squad size shall be 18. Each team is restricted to maximum 8 foreign players.
  3.  Base Price: The base price of uncapped players has been increased from 10 lakh to 20 lakhs. While other categories remain unchanged.
  4. Retention Policy: The retention policy says that every team can retain up to five players. But this retention happens in a unique manner. The two combinations in which retention can happen is – Three pre-auction retentions & two Right to match cards or Two pre-auction retentions & three RTM cards. While retaining players every franchise must keep these three factors in mind as well – Maximum of three Capped Indian players or
    Maximum of two Overseas players or Maximum of two Uncapped Indian players.
  5. Right To Match Card (RTM): RTM is right to the first choice.
