The eleventh edition of Indian Premier League is not even around the corner but the constant news is creating IPL buzz among all cricket fans. Kings XI Punjab has announced alternative home ground beside Mohali. Holkar Stadium of Indore will continue to be the second home ground for Kings XI Punjab.
The decision was taken after the matters related to security arrangements were resolved between Punjab Government and PCA – Punjab Cricket Association. In the previous year (August) KXIP had requested to BCCI to allow them to shift their home venue. The request was made due to lack of support from PCA and local officials. Even, KXIP had complained regarding less gateway turnover at Mohali.
While talking to press, Kings XI Punjab chief executive officer, Satish Menon said,
We wanted to shift our base from Mohali but the main issue regarding the security has been resolved between the government and the Punjab Cricket Association. We are happy to play in Mohali as there is different energy there. We will be playing four games in Mohali and the remaining three in Indore. It has been a good venue for us, and the response has been great as we have seen packed houses last year
Kings XI Punjab has been fixed in jinx after their first ten years ended in dismal. The team finished third in the first season and finished runners-up in 2014 season. These two performances are only bright sides in their portfolio. While in the rest editions, the team has been part of bottom four.
The eleventh season of IPL is supposed to be a fresh season as most of the players will be available for auction. Keeping this in mind, KXIP has opted for only one retention. That one retention came down as a surprise in form of Axar Patel who was retained for 6.75 crores.
Now it will be interesting to see how team fares in IPL Auction 2018. (Trending Now: Kings XI Punjab 2018 Team Squad, News, Schedule)
