VIVO IPL Auction: Player Retention Event To Air Live on Star Sports (4th Jan 2018) – The eleventh edition of Indian Premier League will feature the return of Chennai Super Kings & Rajasthan Royals. Even though the IPL 2018 kick off is at far distance for now, the IPL Auction 2018 is slated for 27th and 28th January. Before, IPL Auctions 2018, all team franchise need to retain their players. As authorities have announced, each team franchise can retain upto five players using retention policy and Right to Match card. (Know More: IPL 2018 Auction Rules, Retention Policy, Right To Match Card Explained!)

Earlier, player retention used to be a private affair, where the team franchises would send an email to BCCI with retained players list. Now this time around, Star Network who have earned the broadcasting rights for IPL 2018 will live stream IPL 2018 Player Retention Event. The Player retention event for IPL 11 is scheduled on January 4th in Mumbai.

While discussing with Star official,

The idea is to send out a message that that the IPL is not just about money. A lot of effort is put in team-building and we want to start the IPL coverage through retention. The retained players form the core of the teams.

The earlier editions of IPL were broadcasted by Sony Pictures.

As per the sources, Mumbai is set to retain captain Rohit Sharma and Pandya Brothers. While Delhi will bank their money on Shreyas Iyer and Rishab Pant. MS Dhoni will return home as CSK make their comeback.
